1) Start dialing at a scheduled time. It’s so easy to procrastinate or ‘wing it’ by getting started whenever you are ready, but it’s very easy to be ready far later than you need to be, or not be ready at all. Let’s face it, cold calling may not be as fun as some of the fun things you would prefer to be doing, but it’s one of the keys to your business success. So schedule a time and make it a priority to get started at that time!
2) Make dialing goals. Once you’ve started dialing another good habit is to set goals. A great goal to set is to make a specific number of calls in your call block. You can record the number of calls you are making by simply writing down a ‘1’ on a piece of scratch paper each time you dial. Once you’ve reached your goal you are free to stop. After you’ve done this for a few days see how many calls you are making and you will get a measurable idea for how many calls you can realistically make in a day.
3) Review common objections before starting your daily calls. This one is really important. It’s a good habit to master your profession and one part of that is to be prepared for the objections when they come. Once in awhile you will get an easy prospect, but most have objections. The more problems you can solve for people’s objections the greater success you are likely to experience.
